The week of October 14- 18, 2024 kicks-off the 4th Annual Construction Inclusion Week. This industry-wide event raises awareness and drives positive change through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Throughout the week, brokers, carriers, and contractors have an opportunity to foster education and share resources—from the office to the job site. Each day focuses on a different theme, encouraging meaningful conversations and actions that help create a more inclusive industry.
Here’s is a snapshot of the themes for each day:
Commitment & Accountability
Monday 10/14
Creating an inclusive culture requires leadership and accountability commitment from all of us, regardless of role. It’s about taking responsibility for our actions and holding ourselves accountable for fostering a more inclusive and respectful environment.
Belonging
Tuesday 10/15
When people feel valued and included, it enhances a sense of belonging. Addressing unconscious bias is key to building a culture where everyone feels they have a purpose and are a vital part of the team.
Supplier Diversity
Wednesday 10/16
Supplier diversity ensures that businesses owned by underrepresented groups have opportunities to contribute. A diverse supplier is generally defined as a business that’s at least 51% owned and operated by an individual that’s part of a traditionally underrepresented or underserved group. It’s a way to support minority, women-owned, and small businesses, while strengthening the industry as a whole.
Workplace Culture
Thursday 10/17
A positive workplace culture is essential for safety, productivity, and overall job satisfaction. It’s about creating environments that are free of bias and harassment, where every voice is heard, and everyone is treated with respect. A good culture leads to safer and more productive employees.
Community Engagement
Friday 10/18
Engaging the community through workforce development creates opportunities for diverse talent and promotes sustainable growth. By providing access to training and career opportunities, we help shape a workforce that reflects the diversity of the world we build in. Through in-person volunteering, cash donations, and sponsorships are just some ways create a positive change within our communities.
