6 Ways Data Subjects Can Exercise their Rights

In today’s digital world, companies are looking to gather information on people who visit their website and social media platforms. This often allows companies to better understand their audience.

However, as a data subject, someone who can be identified directly or indirectly from certain information, you have several rights regarding the information a Company has on you. These rights include:

  • Right to Notice
    What information is collected and why it was collected.

  • Right to Know
    Right to confirm if personal data is being processed, what information is being processed, and what third parties it was shared with (if applicable).

  • Right to Access
    Right to know in detail what personal data a company has collected.

  • Right to Receive
    Right to receiving a copy of your collected information in a readily usable format.

  • Right to Correct
    Right to request corrections of personal information.

  • Right to Deletion
    Right to request deletion of personal information (subject to exceptions).

You can utilize your rights and request your information in 3 ways: 

  • Send an email to the company’s privacy contact
  • Leave a message on the company’s direct privacy line
  • Send a letter to the company’s privacy officer/representative


Whether you want are interested in knowing the information a company has on you or not, it is important to know your rights and how to obtain the information.
